Leadership, kitchen support, education and administration

Each person plays a practical role in keeping meals, learning support, compliance and community operations moving.

Jacqui Pember

Co-Founder and Education Lead

Jacqui Pember

Jacqui helped establish Janet's Junction during the COVID-19 crisis, starting with a grassroots sandwich distribution initiative for families in need. She is deeply passionate about improving educational access and outcomes for children in Phoenix and Joe Slovo, believing that education is the most powerful tool to change future opportunities. Today, she drives the organisation's education-focused programmes and strategic direction.

Jason Stanfield

Director and Soup Kitchen Lead

Jason Stanfield

Jason is the son of the late Janet Stanfield, after whom the organisation is named. He stepped into leadership following Janet's passing in 2022 and now plays a central role in running the organisation's food relief programme. Twice a week, Jason cooks and distributes nutritious meals for local children, unhoused individuals and families with no income. His work honours his mother's legacy and keeps the heart of Janet's Junction beating. He is supported by his wife, Stacy.

Ursula Barends

Co-Founder

Ursula Barends

Ursula, then the Ward 4 PR councillor, played a key role in the early days of the project. A close friend of Janet, she introduced her into the initiative and worked alongside her to deliver food directly into the community. Ursula, Janet and another volunteer personally pushed trolley loads of sandwiches through Joe Slovo every week, ensuring food reached the people who needed it most.

Janine McEvoy

Co-Founder

Janine McEvoy

Janine founded the Milnerton CAN during the 2020 lockdown and was instrumental in sparking the idea of distributing sandwiches to vulnerable families. Together with Jacqui and Ursula, she helped establish an organised, community-driven system for collecting and distributing food. Her early leadership and mobilisation of volunteers helped lay the foundation for what later became Janet's Junction.

Stacy Stanfield

Operations and Kitchen Support

Stacy Stanfield

Stacy Stanfield is a vital part of Janet's Junction's day-to-day work. As Jason's wife and closest support, she is essential to the soup kitchen operations. Stacy assists with food distribution, ensures supplies are available and helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. Her hands-on involvement, practical support and quiet dedication make it possible for meals to reach those who need them most.

Yolande Verhoef

Finance and Administration

Yolande Verhoef

Yolande Verhoef is a qualified accountant who supports Janet's Junction with all financial compliance and statutory obligations. She manages liaison with SARS, CIPC and other relevant bodies, ensuring the organisation operates responsibly, transparently and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Together, our team is committed to creating a place where people feel seen, supported and hopeful.
